CREATION VERSUS MAN

Introduction:  

     With the help of technology, series of research had been carried out to know the brain behind the useful and important products such as car, computer and so on. It was concluded in September 2007 that “Karl Benson was the founder of car.” Though it is said that “The history of the automobile is very rich and dates back to the 15th century when Leonardo da Vinci was creating designs and models for transport vehicles,” People believe that Karl Benson from Germany was the first person who created “the first true automobile in 1885/1886.” According to Wikipedia also, “John Atanasov is the original founder of the computer!

     If not for time, if we should be tracing one product and the other to their inventors; and how much time they spent in order to improve on their products, it will take us a long time. These inventors did not have a perfect product at their initial stage, but they continued to be improving on their products. For example, manufacturers of cars are still improving on the production of cars till today. So it is in the case of computers also. It is important that we do not forget that it is God who gives wisdom to all these inventors—whether white or black.

     Now, when it comes to the matter of family, some people do not take it serious. A car or a computer has more value to some husbands or wives than their spouse, which should not be so. For this reason we want to observe some things right from the creation in order to enable us see how much valuable is the matter of family in the hands of the Maker of family.

     When we speak of creation, we are speaking of everything that exists both in heavens and in this world, whether living or non-living—how they came to be. We will not be able to go into details on the creation but to be brief, and to relate it to our major subject, which is the construction of a family. The family was originally instituted by God, the creator of heavens and Earth. A man asked a question sometimes out of his ignorance, “What has God to do with the family?” There are many things people do not know; and are not willing to know because of their ignorance. With this lack of enough knowledge and lack of interest to know, people suffer for what should be a pleasure. This is what happens in different families. In order that your family will not suffer, or that the suffering you are going through in your family can come to an end, let us go through the stuffs together.

 

Theories on the Biblical Account of Creation

     There are different theories which Bible scholars formed up to make us believe that creation took thousands of years; and not just seven literal days as recorded in the Bible. But the only theory we abide with is the one that says, “And there was evening and there was morning . . .” This statement is repeated after each day of the creation activities for the whole six days (Gen. 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31). Therefore, we hold to this fact that creation took place within the literal six days and that God rested on the seventh day. Looking at the obituary records in Genesis chapters five and eleven, we calculated the years between Adam to the birth of Abraham to be exactly 1,937 years. Also with the help of the chronological order of the Old Testament given by Zondervan Study Bible, we got the years of Abraham to the birth of Christ to be a period of 2,500 years approximately. And now we have an addition of 2,013 years since the time of Christ. Bringing these three different periods together, we can say as of this month of April, 2013, that creation of the first man took place at about 6,450 years ago.

 

God’s Divine Providence

     The first important message that we want you people to take out from the biblical account of creation is about God’s providence. If you forget everything that you are reading through today, do not forget that: GOD HAD PROVIDED FOR ALL THE NEEDS OF MAN EVEN BEFORE HE CREATED MAN.

Without delving into different theories on creation such as gap theory, I personally take six literal days of creation as the Bible puts it. And this is what we are dealing with in all our programs.

     Day One of Creation: According to the biblical account of creation according to Moses the servant of God, the earth was formless and empty. God formed the formlessness of the earth on the first day by creating the light apart from the darkness by His command; and He separated light for day from the darkness for night (Genesis 1:2-5).

    Day Two of Creation: God formed the earth by separating the firmaments from the seas by His command; the firmaments stay up and some waters also stay up; and God called the firmaments heavens (Genesis 1:6-8).

     Day Three of Creation: God formed the earth by putting waters together and brought the dry land out to surface with its vegetation by His command (Genesis 1:9-13).

     Day Four of Creation: It is good to note that God started by forming the earth in the first three days. On the fourth day, God began to fill the earth with different products such as filling the light with sun, moon and stars by His command. Thus, God provided illumination for the day and night; and at the same time the source of energy for vegetation and human’s sustenance (Genesis 1:14-19).

     Day Five of Creation: God filled the waters or seas with sea food and air with birds or fowls of different kind by His command (Genesis 1:20-23).

     Day Six of Creation: This sixth day is known to be a very busy day for God and His hosts. Because it is on this same day, that God created the animals and the livestock of different kind; including the first man and the woman (Genesis 1:24-31).

     With the look of things, merely reading through the Bible and with power of the Holy Spirit interpreting it, we want to suggest the possibility of God at work in different times on the sixth day of creation as following:

a. God commanding animal world to come into existence between 6:30 and 8:00 a. m.

b. God summoning for the creation man in His own image at 8:30 a. m.

c. God molding man with dust (mud); breathing into man’s nostril; and man becoming a living soul between 9:00 and 12:00 noon.

d. Adam performing his first assignment of naming animals between 1:00 and 2:00 p. m.

e. God performing the first surgical operation (anesthesia) on Adam by removing a rib from Adam’s side to create Eve between 2:30 and 5:00 p. m.

f. God joining Adam and Eve together as a husband and wife at 5:30 p. m.

     No one is claiming that this is actually how things happened, especially with the listed time frames; but since the Bible states that all these events took place on the sixth day in Genesis 1:24-31, and believing that God would never lie; we believe that our God is the God of possibility, who makes the impossible thinking to become a reality. But whether a thousand years is taken to be a day or a day is taken like a thousand years is not even a problem to us here.

     Let us be reminded again anyway, that the first important message we are taking out of creation story is that: God in His infinite providence had already provided what man needed for life even before the creation of man. And one of the lessons young one can apply to themselves here is that before a man and woman agree to go into marriage, the man especially should have enough income (people will suggest that both the man and the woman should have enough income to start with), and be spiritually upgraded.

     This has something to do with the culture that one belongs to, but with the biblical teachings that we shall see as time goes on, the man should be a real bread winner in the home. Someone was telling us that it only depends on a person’s faith in God for blessings. Yes, it is true. But you have to work and ask God to bless it. It is good if the woman also has a source of income to support what the husband does. Dear readers, the assignment I want to give to you is to read chapters 1 and 2 of Genesis before our next episode. We pray that the Spirit of the living God will not depart from your family, but will continue to minister to you and your matrimonial problems for both your physical, moral, financial and spiritual aspects in Jesus name, amen.
